Shockwave therapy · Edmonds, WA
Relieve stubborn pain and scar tissue without surgery or medication.
Radial shockwave (EPAT) uses targeted pressure waves to restart healing in tissue that's stuck: tight C-section scars, pelvic and menstrual pain, tendons, and joints that haven't responded to anything else. Every session is delivered one-on-one by a Doctor of Physical Therapy.
How it works
Sound waves that restart healing.
Shockwave therapy, known clinically as Extracorporeal Pulse Activation Technology (EPAT) or radial shockwave, is an FDA-cleared treatment that sends acoustic pressure waves into soft tissue. These waves increase local blood flow, help break down adhesions and scar tissue, and stimulate the body's own repair processes in areas that have struggled to heal.
Shockwave has been used in orthopedics and sports medicine for decades. The International Society for Medical Shockwave Treatment (ISMST) lists chronic conditions such as plantar fasciitis, tennis elbow, and calcific shoulder tendinopathy among its established indications, and research into pelvic health, scar tissue, and women's health applications continues to grow.
At Body Motion, shockwave is the foundation of our Body Motion Wave protocols, developed by Dr. Allison Feldt, PT, DPT, for pelvic health and postpartum recovery. Because it's delivered by pelvic and orthopedic physical therapists and paired with hands-on PT, we treat the tissue and retrain the muscles around it.

Who it helps
We use shockwave for two groups of patients. If you've tried stretching, massage, or exercise alone without lasting change, it may be the missing piece.
Body Motion Wave pairs shockwave with pelvic floor PT for:
C-section and surgical scars that feel tight, numb, or tethered
Endometriosis pain and abdominal adhesions
Painful periods and ovulation discomfort
Core activation after pregnancy or abdominal surgery
Pain with intimacy from pelvic floor tightness
Bladder leaks and pelvic organ prolapse symptoms
When chronic pain hasn't resolved with PT alone:
Plantar fasciitis and heel pain
Achilles, patellar, and rotator cuff tendinopathy
Tennis and golfer's elbow
Chronic knee, hip, neck, or SI joint pain
Chronic back pain and myofascial trigger points
Tightness and scar tissue from old injuries
Why patients choose it
Real tissue change, without needles or downtime.
Rather than masking pain, shockwave targets the tissue itself: blood flow, adhesions, and repair.
Treatments take 10 to 20 minutes, typically once a week, and fit around work and family.
No anesthesia, injections, or medication. Most people return to their day right away.
Every session is performed by a licensed physical therapist, never a technician.
Combined with pelvic or orthopedic PT, shockwave helps you get more from every exercise and hands-on session.

What we treat
From fresh scars to pain you've had for years, these are the areas where we see shockwave make the biggest difference.
Soften and mobilize C-section, abdominal, and perineal scars so the muscles beneath can work again.
Ease tension and improve blood flow for period pain, endometriosis pain, and pain with intimacy.
Support tissue health alongside pelvic floor training for leaking, prolapse symptoms, and ab separation.
Break the cycle of chronic tendon and joint pain so you can walk, run, and lift comfortably again.

Shockwave therapy FAQs
Extracorporeal Pulse Activation Technology (EPAT), also called radial shockwave therapy, is an FDA-cleared, non-invasive treatment that uses acoustic pressure waves to improve circulation and stimulate the body's natural healing process in muscles, tendons, fascia, and scar tissue.
We use it for C-section and surgical scars, endometriosis and menstrual pain, pelvic floor tension, and core recovery, as well as plantar fasciitis, tendinopathy, tennis and golfer's elbow, and chronic knee, hip, neck, SI joint, and back pain. Your evaluation tells us whether it's a good fit for your condition.
Most patients describe a tolerable, rhythmic tapping, and we adjust the intensity throughout the session. No anesthesia is needed. Mild soreness for a day or two afterward is possible, similar to a deep tissue massage or a hard workout.
Many musculoskeletal conditions are treated with at least three weekly sessions. Pelvic health protocols vary with your condition and goals; most patients complete 8 to 24 sessions in total, often combined with EMTT and physical therapy.
Some patients report immediate relief; for others it builds over up to four weeks. Over 80% of treated patients report being pain-free or having significant pain reduction, and tissue continues to remodel for weeks after your final session.
Yes. EPAT is FDA-cleared and has been used safely across Europe and the U.S. for decades, with virtually no side effects beyond occasional minor soreness. It isn't used over an active malignancy, a known blood clot (DVT), or over the abdomen and pelvis during pregnancy. Your therapist reviews your full health history first.
Shockwave uses acoustic pressure waves you can feel as tapping, and is ideal for scar tissue, tendons, and surface to mid-depth tissue. EMTT uses magnetic energy that reaches deeper with no sensation at all. We often combine the two so each targets what it does best.
Shockwave is a cash-pay regenerative service and isn't covered by most insurance plans. We're happy to provide a Good Faith Estimate when you schedule at least 3 days in advance. Call (425) 582-0727 or email support@bodymotionpt.com.

A message from our founder
Years ago, I was frustrated in my own postpartum body. Since then I've seen too many women in their 40s and 50s dealing with hip, back, and joint pain, and leaking too, who go on to need joint replacements and, later, live with incontinence. That cycle is why I started Body Motion. Most women wait months or even years before getting help, and the one thing I can promise is that doing nothing won't make pelvic floor issues better. The next step is to take action. — Dr. Allison Feldt, PT, DPT
