Physical Therapy The Missing Piece Of The Wellness Puzzle

Physical Therapy isn’t just for after surgery! One common misconception is that you only need physical therapy if you’ve been injured. But physical therapy is the wellness support that every person needs! Think about it, other than teaching you to put one foot in front of the other, has anyone ever taught you how to walk safely in a way that protects your joints? Did anyone else explain how to sleep to maintain alignment of your body? How about carrying something and using your core, not your back? Most of the movements we do are intuitive, you just do it, you don’t think about it. Well, this willy nilly way of moving through the world isn’t optimal for the longevity of our bodies.

How often do people hurt themselves doing daily activities? This is because our bodies will make compensations for as long as possible; not activating your core muscles? The body will enlist your back and joints. Pelvic Floor isn’t coordinated? The force will be passed off to your hips. Physical Therapy should be seen as preventative care. Why wait to support your body until something goes wrong? The aches, pains, and dysfunctions that are commonly choked up to be normal aging really are not. These issues are common in our society because people ignore these symptoms and wait until it affects their quality of life to take action.
