Prepare Your Pelvic Floor For Menopause

Throughout our lives we go through different stages, as menopause approaches issues that have lingered around for years become enhanced. The decrease in hormones creates vaginal dryness, incontinence and bone loss. That is why it is important to optimize your pelvic floor and increase the blood flow to these muscles so that you can maintain the integrity of these muscles as estrogen decreases. This will decrease symptoms of incontinence and discomfort with intercourse.

Also having a strong core and pelvic floor will support your joints and help prevent injuries. Many of the women going through pre-menopause did not have access to Pelvic Floor Physical Therapy during their childbearing years. Issues from birth like pelvic organ prolapse, diastasis recti, incontinence and scar tissue have gone decades without treatment. Or if treatment was provided it was usually surgical leading to the presence of more scar tissue further decreasing blood flow to these muscles.

With the support of an Expert Pelvic Floor Physical Therapist at Body Motion Physical Therapy the internal and external scar tissue and adhesions will be eliminated, proper alignment will be achieved along with optimized coordination of the pelvic floor muscles. Personalized strengthening programs will be created based on the needs of each individual client.
